Behind the Race
Giving back to kids sports
Our mission is to give every child the chance to experience the joy and benefits of playing sports. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills, and be part of a supportive community. Through sports, kids gain a sense of accomplishment, forge new friendships, and set goals that help them grow both on and off the field.
This 4th of July, we invite you to participate in our San Diego 4th of July 5k Run, a special event dedicated to supporting this mission. By taking part in this run, you’re not just getting active—you’re helping to provide opportunities for children to discover their potential through sports

In Honor Of Ethan Hamilton
11/06/75-7/4/2024

Together with his wife, Andrea, and children, Lily and Eli, Ethan resided in 4S Ranch where he could often be found on the courts and fields loudly cheering on neighborhood kids and pouring into the community.
Ethan Hamilton, the beloved Athletic Director at Point Loma Nazarene University, passed away on July 4th, 2024 after a brief battle with leukemia. Hamilton led the PLNU athletic department through its transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II and the Sea Lions quickly became a DII powerhouse. Under Hamilton’s leadership, PLNU teams made 45 NCAA postseason appearances, earned 21 PacWest Championships, secured 2 National Championship runner up titles (Baseball, Men’s Basketball) and came home with the Women’s Soccer National Championship title in 2023. Hamilton was widely respected across the greater San Diego community.
